Committees

Modernization Committee – They are looking at ways to improve/modernize the Local, from looking up to the platform, new technology like accounting systems, new ways to electronically safekeep files instead of having paper files, etc. For example, they recommended to buy tablets to attend social events and do surveys, or members using it at meetings to vote using the platform, etc.

Bylaws Committee – They review the bylaws and provide recommendation to general membership

Social Committee  – They plan social events specially a summer and winter event. This committee aims to engage all CUPE 1287

Membership Engagement Committee – oversees education – training opportunities within the labour movement, communication with members – we have a newsletter and other ways to communicate with them, organization – seeking to organize better our members like with mapping. This committee is seeking ways to improve engagement and empowering members by educating them, giving them tools and resources to have one on one conversation about matters that are impacting them and communicate about the good and the no so good in the community and their workplaces.

Negotiating Advisory Committee/Bargaining Team – This will be a special committee established at least six (6) months prior to the expiry of the Local Union’s collective agreement and automatically disbanded when a bargaining team has been elected. The function of this committee is to prepare collective bargaining proposals. Basically, we have 13 NAC, most of the time we have at least 3 running.
